OVERALL SERVICE: We would highly recommend Blue Ocean Weddings to any couple who is considering a destination wedding in Maui. We were very pleased with the quality of service we received. Kevin and I were very concerned when we started the wedding planning process knowing that we wouldn’t see the end product until the day of the wedding, especially after contacting several wedding coordinators and received little or no response. Gwen called us the day I e-mailed her inquiring about her services. After speaking with her, we knew she possessed the professionalism, integrity, and experience to organize and deliver what we were hoping for and our wedding day was wonderful and well exceeded our expectations. |

OVERALL SERVICE: It was such a beautiful service; it felt like a dream come true. Honestly, it was a perfect day and I can't complain too much about that. COORDINATOR: Gwen was wonderful! We only talked on the phone maybe a couple times (we're from MN) but we mostly emailed and it worked out really well. I was excited to finally meet her and she was so nice! I liked how she took the time to learn everyone's name and we had a large wedding party too. Sorry I didn't get to say thank you that day! Mahalo! Wish you could have joined us at the Seawatch, but I'm sure you were busy with more weddings! MINISTER: Ron actually saw me waiting with a couple of my bridesmaids in the front of the Maui Prince and he took the time to talk to me. I know that he talked with my husband as well before the ceremony. His service was excellent and both our parents, who are Catholic, were very impressed with him. It meant a lot to my husband and I that are parents were happy with the service. His words were very meaningful and we will always remember them. PHOTOGRAPHY: Alan was really great to work with. He helped people feel comfortable and got some really nice shots. We got our pictures while we were still in Maui, and we were very pleased with the results. Thanks for joining us at the Seawatch! VIDEOGRAPHY: Brian did an excellent job capturing our wedding. We actually saw him again at the Maui Prince a week later and he said that our DVD was already in the mail. When we got back to MN, we were able to watch it and of course, it made me cry. I liked how we got to pick the music on the DVD. It is such a great memento to show your family, friends, and for future generations. MUSICIANS: I really wanted a classical guitarist and a violinist and it was a few months before the wedding. Of course, Gwen got them for our wedding! I didn't get to talk to them to thank them, but they did a beautiful job. Make sure you let Gwen know if you have any music requests. I had forgotten to bring my list, but no worries, the music that they played was perfect. FLOWERS: My bouquet was exactly how what I asked for! The tropical arch matched the colors of the bridesmaid dresses and my bouquet. The flowers were gorgeous and I felt silly wondering if they were real. Of course they were; this is Hawaii! The maile leis for the groomsmen stained their barongs though, so they didn't wear them. CAKE: I wish I could have had some more! We had passionfruit cake and had some leftovers but they were devoured by the next day. The flowers on it matched my bouquet and it was delicious! The Seawatch was excellent! I was worried that we wouldn't get much of a view in the main dining room, but there is a view since they have the doors open to the lanai. Our two servers were great and the food was very good. I recommend the fish. SUGGESTIONS: I just recommend that people have a list of music with them to give to Gwen, or email it to her early on. I had made a list of music that I wanted, but I didn't bring it with me. But like I mentioned, even if you don't have any requests, the music that they play is beautiful. Gwen, Thank you for all of your help! I thought everything ran smoothly. COORDINATOR: Very helpful with answering my questions and being patient with my frequent changes. MINISTER: An excellent orator. Shared a lot of wisdom and kind words. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. VIDEOGRAPHY: Nice to work with. Even our photographer enjoyed working with him. We haven't received the video so I can't comment on the quality - any idea on when we're supposed to receive that? MUSICIAN: Wonderful. OVERALL SERVICE: Blue Ocean Weddings provided us a superb service!! Before we booked with them, we did extensive research on different wedding companies in Oahu and Maui. After speaking with Gwen, I found that Blue Ocean Weddings met all our criteria. I'm so happy with the outcome -- I will definitely recommend them to our friends and family if they ever choose to have a destination wedding. COORDINATOR: Gwen basically took care of everything so I wouldn't have to worry at all. Because of her, I was able to enjoy my relaxing vacation in Hawaii before the wedding. On the wedding day, we ran a bit late and I was getting upset. Once we found Makena Cove Beach and I saw Gwen standing there, holding my beautiful bouquet and smiling, I knew everything was going to be great. MINISTER: We loved our minister!! He has a great voice and a sense of humor. I've watched the wedding DVD already, and I still can't believe how great he was. PHOTOGRAPHY: Alan did an amazing job with the photographs--he's so talented! He was able to capture waves crashing to the rocks while we were posing. Alan is easy to work with, very down-to-earth. The best part was getting our album and pics two days later. Other companies take over a week or more to have it delivered. VIDEOGRAPHY: Brian was so nice to drop off the video to our hotel the next day as he promised!! The video turned out professionally made-- not cheesy at all. Both the videographer and photographer took good care of my guests and included them in lots of the pics also. Overall Service: Our experience with Blue Ocean Weddings was outstanding! Andy and I were worried about planning a wedding from so far away and basing decisions on pictures, as I’m sure most people would be. After researching and calling many different coordinators, it was apparent that Gwen was organized and well versed in all things wedding on Maui. Everything exceeded our expectations and was even more amazing than we had hoped for. We are really glad that we decided to have our wedding on the beautiful island of Maui and with Blue Ocean Weddings. Mahalo nui loa! COORDINATOR: Gwen was GREAT!!! She was always available to answer our many questions and concerns either by phone or e-mail. She took care of everything – items both big and small – and made sure everything was perfect and what we had envisioned. Because Gwen was our coordinator we were able to spend the morning of our big day on the beach instead of stressing over little details. Gwen handled last minute changes to our wedding due to weather with great ease. She even took the time to call me to let me know that back-up plans were in the works and that I had no reason to stress. MINISTER: Ron provided us with the exact type of ceremony we envisioned. He kept the ceremony traditional yet lighthearted, with some traditional Hawaiian custom too. It was exactly what we hoped for. Ron talked to us as though he had known us for years and made both of us very comfortable. PHOTOGRAPHY: Alan Fong was the best! He did everything he could to make sure our pictures were perfect for this once in a life time event. He was quick to provide us with the finished pictures and they were beyond expectations. The way he captured the perfect scenery left those viewing our pictures thinking that nothing so beautiful could be real. VIDEOGRAPHY: Brian was helpful, friendly and professional during the ceremony and dinner reception. The editing, added music and formatting made the DVD perfect. From perfect sound, angles, to capturing the moments that meant the most during our day, he created perfect keepsake of our wedding day. MUSICIAN: The traditional Hawaiian guitarist added the perfect Hawaiian touch to our ceremony. FLOWERS: Gorgeous and exactly what we wanted! The bouquets for myself and for my three bridesmaids were amazing – so pretty and better than I had imagined. CATERING: The Sea Watch Restaurant was wonderful. Everyone’s food turned out great as we heard nothing but compliments. Their willingness to accommodate our last minute changes due to rain were fantastic. OVERALL SERVICE: Thoughtful and professional every step of the way. We could not have asked for better people to help us with our wedding! COORDINATOR: Planning a wedding from 2000 miles away is an extremely difficult and time consuming task. Gwen was consistently available to answer our numerous questions, whether over the phone or via e-mail. Though our ceremony was relatively small, we cannot over emphasize how important the rehearsal was in easing our concerns about the flow of the ceremony. Gwen was an invaluable asset in helping to ensure that all the pieces of the ceremony came together at the right time in just the way we wanted. MINISTER: Vance was simply amazing!! He had a wonderful voice that truly added to the ceremony and the video that captured the ceremony. Along with performing the ceremony exactly the way we wanted, he added a lot of light humor that really helped ease our nerves during the ceremony. And he's an extremely nice guy who is fun to chat with. We, Vance, myself (the groom), and my best man, had a very pleasant and humorous conversation prior to the ceremony. PHOTOGRAPHY: Alan exceeded all of our expectations in terms of service and quality of photos! He went out of his way to make sure we received the photos before leaving Maui (just days after the ceremony)! Multiple people from other parties on the beach approached us afterwards and explained how jealous they were about the quality of photos they thought Alan was capturing. Although we had browsed Alan's best works prior to our ceremony, he still blew us away with the shots he capture on the beach--amazing!! VIDEOGRAPHY: He did a wonderful job with capturing every moment of our ceremony. He was very patient and helpful despite our severe lack of experience with being on camera. The final DVD was very professional and quite memorable. It captured our special moment in time in a way still photos simply cannot. COORDINATOR: Gwen Clark. Gwen is absolutely amazing. She has done this a million times but makes you feel like you are the only bride; she is genuine and sincere in all of her efforts and enthusiasm. She is organized, has fantastic ideas and takes care of absolutely everything and doesn't let you stress about anything. She was AMAZING to work with. Everyone commented after the rehearsal and the wedding what a wonderful job she did and that she was so nice. I think other people have had bad experiences with coordinators being a bit over bearing but that was not our experience at all. We were married at the Olowalu Plantation and it is a beautiful place. We (just me really) were nervous not having seen the plantation in person before deciding to get married there but once we saw it a few days before the wedding we were so relieved. Has all the elements for a romantic, beautiful Maui wedding. Which of course all happened because of Gwen.

HI Gwen, My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I can't believe it has been almost 2 months since that wonderful day at the Cove. Overall Service: Great! Everything that was supposed to be in our package was there. Booking such an important event from so far away made me nervous, but Gwen and her team were able to make the day just perfect. COORDINATOR: Gwen was prompt to return my emails and answer any questions I had for her. Very easy to talk to and she knows her stuff! MINISTER: Paster Vance was great! If you think Hawaiian minister... he is it! PHOTOGRAPHY: Alan's photos turned out great! He is very easy to work with and every photo seems to be a good shot. I don't know how many times we have looked at our photo album since we got back. Our family and friends have also commented on how great the pictures look. It captured the spirit of Hawaii that we love so much as well as the emotions of the day. We love that he took a page from the IZ songbook - it was perfect. (By the way, is there anyway to contact the musician? We wanted to provide him with a small gratuity for his services, but didn't get a chance to). FLOWERS: The flowers were lovely. Not only were we surrounded by the breathtaking natural landscape, but we got to hold the beauty of Hawaii in our hands, which was powerful. CAKE: One word: YUM! We enjoyed the cake at our post-ceremony brunch and our guests were going back for seconds. The details of the Hawaiian flowers made it every more special and authentic to us. Gwen, As you might remember, Michael planned this surprise Wedding Vow Renewal for the past 9 months with you and your co-workers. Thankfully, the surprise went off without a hitch! The weather was poor all day until just before the ceremony. And, for that we have God to thank. However, all the other major details fell into Gwen’s lap and she and her co-workers did an amazing job. COORDINATOR: Michael felt that Gwen was instrumental in coordinating all the details of our special day. Trying to keep this under raps from me was very difficult for Michael and if it wasn’t for you, Gwen, he would never have pulled it off. Thank you for helping us celebrate an amazing day! MINISTER: Vance was heartfelt and sincere throughout the whole event. As many people have commented on your testimonial section of your website, Vance made you feel as if he knew us on a personal level and it made the vow renewal even nicer. We have watched the video many times with family and friends and each time at least one person comments on although his homily/sermon may have been well-rehearsed; it was thought-provoking and powerful. Great job, Vance! Vance has also received many compliments on how handsome he is!! J PHOTOGRAPHY: Alan took some great pictures of us, I have to admit! We usually shy away from cameras and likewise, we tend to get silly in these types of situations. Alan was very patient and even laughed along with us. Some of the poses seemed foolish at the time (i.e. putting our foreheads together), but those ended up being the best! So, word to the wise: don’t assume that those particular pictures will turn out ridiculous! It was a bonus that Alan gave us a disk with all our pictures on them and a letter allowing us to make copies. Thanks again, Alan, for coming to our Resort before we left. Being able to take home the photo album/photo disk was a great send off for us! VIDEOGRAPHY: Brian did an amazing job with our DVD. It showed the “true” us. It is a heck of a lot better than our original wedding video that is for sure!! Brian edited the video perfectly! He used the music Michael wanted in the background and he kept the part where we all got bulldozed by a huge wave! Thanks, Brian! MUSICIAN: I don’t recall the gentleman’s name, but our guitarist did such a beautiful job. He even included in the middle of his song a warning about the big wave that was heading our way! Otherwise, we would all have been soaked to the bone. Instead, we were able to jump out of the way and salvage the video and photography. The only incident was that either Alan or Brian lost a shoe! Hope ya found it! FLOWERS: Simply gorgeous! The bouquet looked just like the picture! The leis were beautiful and held up throughout the evening. Addition by me: We rented a town car for the evening and our driver Chris was the nicest guy in the world. We unfortunately messed up his very clean car with a ton of beach sand after the ceremony, but by the time we returned from changing clothes to go out again, the car was clean as a whistle. Chris gave us great suggestions for restaurants and activities for the rest of our trip and he was right on the money (Stella’s is a great breakfast place!). SUGGESTIONS: Keep up the great work! I can speak for myself and say that other than the births of our two children, this day was the happiest day of my life. It outdid our original wedding by far (and we had a nice wedding, too!). Gwen, We could not have asked for a better day! Everything turned out just perfect. We can’t wait to come back to Maui...it was paradise! Our first day back home and it is in the 20’s and sleeting...yuck! Overall Service: Everyone we encountered was very professional but also very personable. I would use all the same people if I had to do it over...they were all great! COORDINATOR: Very professional. Everything was taken care of very quickly...calls were returned immediately. Gwen addressed any of our concerns right away so this was a very stress-free time for us. MINISTER: Rick Jackson was fabulous! He has a way about him that makes you very comfortable. We were told when we went to get our marriage license that we were very lucky to have him performing our ceremony and I have to agree! PHOTOGRAPHY: Alan is the best! He works quickly so that you’re not out there for hours taking pictures and yet he manages to capture all the right shots and some very unique ones, too. Coordinator: Gwen did a great job, everything that we asked for and all the changes that were made to our original requests were dealt with in a timely manner with out any need for us to remind her. Minister: We both really like the minister, he was exceptionally nice and did a great job (even while choking on a bug). He talk to us as though he had known us for years and made both of us very comfortable. Photography: Alan was an great photographer and took great picture. He even allowed us to re-produce his picture at no extra charge (that is very rare). He was fun and professional and actually gave us more than we aid for. Alan came by to drop off the photos and stayed to chat a while which was so nice. We would have liked to leave the island with our wedding DVD but Glen mentioned he would mail it to out by Wednesday- we certainly don't want to rush the editing process. COORDINATOR: Gwen was great. I plan a lot of events and am very critical (as Gwen knows) and everything was done with the utmost level of detail. When Gwen could tell I was getting stressed or concerned over email, I instantly received a call that would reassure me that everything was ok. It was the day of the wedding though, where we saw how amazing every item we discussed was, and Gwen's "whip crackin", enthusiasm and caring nature that made us so thankful that we chose to work with her. Thank you, thank you, thank you! MINISTER: Pastor Glenn Armstrong was very easy to work with. I sent him what I wanted, he read it and let me know what he thought, and he delivered with sincerity and kindness. PHOTOGRAPHY: Michael Andrews and his assistant were wonderful. Both made us feel very comfortable and captured everything we could have asked for. The photos are SO SO great, a blend of traditional and journalistic. I highly recommend him. VIDEOGRAPHY: Very easy. Gwen recommended them, they captured some truly hilarious words from our friends and family. We got the video very quickly. You don't pick your songs or anything, but they choose nice ones that fit the moment and in the long run, I was happy we didn't have to worry about it. We look forward to watching it again and again on our anniversaries. MUSICIAN: I don't even know the name of the quartet... Gwen new I wanted a string quartet and booked them. But they were great and really set the mood of the ceremony. Th DJ, Billy Arbour, found all the music we requested and made it easy for us... he read the guests well too and chose great songs to keep the party going... he even covered up his stuff and waiting out in the rain for us to hit the dance floor once it stopped. FLOWERS: SO great! They were even better than I imagined... the arch was STUNNING. I don't know the name of the florist Gwen booked but anyone wanting amazing flowers should ask for the florist that did Dan & Erin's wedding! CATERING: The food at the Seawatch was amazing. I had several people tell me it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding, that it actually tasted like they ordered it at the restaurant rather than "catering" food, and that the portions were excellent. The macadamia crusted island fish was AMAZING!! Everyone was very nice as well. Maui Wedding Cakes did a great job with the cake too... just want we wanted and delicious as well. Gwen Jeremy and I had no idea what to expect planning a wedding via e-mail in a place we had never visited before, but when we arrived and as events took place leading to the wedding, we realized we had absolutely nothing to stress about. Gwen took care of every last detail, and was very good about communication - obviously very organized. Coordinator: Gwen, you did a fantastic job. It was hard to know if everything I was communicating was being understood as I understand it, so I wasn’t sure how everything would turn out – I am kind of particular. But it was perfect and beautiful. Better than we expected in every single regard. I don’t even think it could have been better if it had been in San Diego and I had planned everything myself. We loved, loved, loved Olowalu Plantation Estate. The grounds are beautiful – so lush and right on the water. The plantation house itself has a very cool vibe, and I loved getting dressed/ready there. We didn’t get to see the site until the day before, so we just hoped we’d like it. But we loved it. It was a special place. Photography: We really liked Alan’s direction – sometimes he told us how to pose, and sometimes he just let us be ourselves. Our casual photos taken at McKenna Cove were great – the colors of the scenery and the poses Alan chose to print for us were awesome. I love our wedding photos – we were lucky enough to have a gorgeous sunset. Musician: We had a Saxophone player, who I never had the opportunity to meet. But the music I heard from inside the house before I walked down the isle was beautiful. DJ: We made a song list (including do and don’t plays) and told him it was OK to take requests, and he didn’t play anything that didn’t fit the criteria. I was so thankful (not to hear the Macarena or Electric Slide), and we had an awesome dance party! Flowers: I loved the bouquets, pew décor and petal isle. I really liked the centerpieces (beautiful flowers, great color matching), but was a little bit surprised by their size (for $100 each, I thought they’d be bigger). The centerpieces were probably the only thing I was mildly disappointed with of the entire day. However, I thought the staff did a great job setting up the tables with all of the items we shipped over, securing everything despite some wind and even keeping the candles lit. I would recommend giving a suggestion in advance to others that want to decorate their own tables – to be sure to use some kind of a hurricane, which we just didn’t think about until we were already in Hawaii. Catering: It took us some time to get our menu picked out (so many choices and we had a lot of guests), and I wasn’t sure I was 100% happy with what Matt and I had selected. But the food rocked. Everyone loved it we had so many compliments on the food. The presentation was awesome, the staff was professional and the Macadamia Nut Crusted Chicken was delicious. I think I ate 4 pieces. Guests also really liked the Island Mahi Mahi and the Au Gratin Potatoes. We were also so touched that the opening of Dana’s new restaurant was the night of our wedding, and instead of being at the restaurant, she was at our wedding. Cake: Our cake was beautiful, exactly like the one I picked out. I didn’t get to taste but a bite, but heard from our guests that it was tasty. Salon Louchia: Teresa (sp?) did a wonderful, wonderful job on my hair and make-up. I would recommend her to anyone without a doubt. I brought in a picture of a hairstyle, and she made it happen. I was really glad I had a practice appointment with her, too, because when I went there on my wedding day, I wasn’t nervous about how I was going to look at all. And to me, that was a big deal. Stacy from Bars Are Us: Stacy was great to work with. She’s a lot of fun. There was hardly ever a line at the bar, and they poured excellent drinks (not weak!). It was almost like we had known Rev. Krueger our whole lives! He is a wonderful Christian minister and I am so thankful he was the one who "Helped" bring us together and become one in God's eyes! PHOTOGRAPHY: Very good at what he does! Our wedding pictures are AMAZING! I can't stop looking at them! He was very persistent and knew exactly what he wanted and because of that, our wedding memories are portrayed through our pictures perfectly! VIDEOGRAPHY: Very nice man! We have yet to see our video, but I can only imagine how great it will be! He seemed to know what he wanted from us as well! I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I watch the video! MUSICIAN: To be honest, I don't remember anything he played. I was so wrapped up in the moment I blurred everything out, even the music, and payed all of my attention to Jake. He seemed especially nice and I can't thank him enough for playing in our wedding! FLOWERS: Exactly what I wanted! The flowers topped it off! I loved everything about them! I had an image in my head that I could not describe to you through email and you still seemed to get into my head and find exactly what I was looking for! They were amazing and gorgeous! WOW! Gwen, Overall Service: What is there to say... We were in awe of how beautiful everything was. The wedding was more than we could have ever wished for. We are so glad we opted for the 10 doves. It was so peaceful. COORDINATOR: Gwen, you are wonderful. With all the trouble we had with the other company, you took over, planned everything last minute and set our nerves at ease. We went from a nervous wreck to sailing on smooth water! We couldn't have asked for anything better. Your services were AMAZING! MINISTER: When he got out of the car we were smiles from ear to ear. The minister looked just like our pastor from back home! He was wonderful. His presentation was much more than we expected. Everything he said was from memory and from the heart. It went so very smooth. One of the best things that we liked was the prayer he ended it with. PHOTOGRAPHY: My father has done wedding pictures for many years and he highly approved of Alan's work during the wedding and the finished product. He made everything extremely easy. We even had the pictures before we went home. How great is that! VIDEOGRAPHY: We can't wait to see the DVD! MUSICIAN: Our guests enjoyed the harpist! Gwen, thank you so much for the perfect day. Everything was above and beyond what I had expected. You were so professional and attentive to every detail and everyone who works with you was fantastic! Alan was just so nice and put everyone at ease--the pictures are beautiful! The limo driver and Corey, the videographer were so funny and friendly. Everyone worked so hard to make sure that we were happy and we couldn't ever Thank You All enough for the priceless time and memories you have given us for our wedding day. When we first met him, he was so soft-spoken. We were both amazed at the passion and energy he put into ceremony. PHOTOGRAPHY: Our pictures are beautiful. Alan was so kind to work so hard to ensure that we had beautiful poses and backgrounds. The scenery and colors he captured seem unreal, particularly the sunset ones on the beach. He was wonderful working so quickly, yet calmly, without us every feeling rushed or pressured. VIDEOGRAPHY: Corey was very sweet. He was constantly working and very nice about asking us to pose for the shoots. We can't wait to see the finished product. MUSICIAN: He was great. His voice and playing are amazing. The songs he played were so perfect, especially the last one, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. He is just so talented and I think it really made our wedding special to have him there playing. FLOWERS: All the flowers were gorgeous. My bouquet was more elaborate than I expected and the flowers used were exquisite. I loved it so much I saved for our entire trip and had it dried when I got home so I can keep it forever. The corsages were lovely too. Our moms were very touched to have that special designation and wear the beautiful flowers. CATERING: Gwen you did a fantastic job in recommending Yormans to use. The food was delicious and also above and beyond what we expected. Our guests could not stop talking about how great it was and the staff at Yormans. The waitress' were great. They were so friendly and on top of everything. They gave us 5-star service. Gwen, you made our reception run so smoothly too. You had everything so well-organized and set-up so we could have a traditional wedding reception even though we were so far from home. SUGGESTIONS: Nothing whatsoever! You all were perfect! COORDINATOR: Very detail oriented and professional, yet personal! MINISTER: Rev. Ron Winckler made our ceremony very personal and meaningful. We felt like we knew him within a few minutes of meeting him. FLOWERS: BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I cannot tell you how much we loved the flowers and the especiolly the circle of flowers. Aloha Gwen, Everything was absolutely perfect! We honestly were shocked at how smooth the entire process was. I did not want the stress of a "traditional wedding" here in the south (where weddings can get outrageous). Making the decision to get married in Maui and have you as our planner was the best decision we could have made. Can't comment on the video. We should receive it this week, but everything else was wonderful. The pictures just don't look real! It looks like we are standing in front of a backdrop!
